NiMAC
About
Since 1994, the Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre, in collaboration with the Pierides Foundation (NiMAC), has stood at the heart of Cyprus’s contemporary art scene. Housed in the renovated old power station in the heart of Nicosia’s historic center, the building itself tells a story of transformation: a result of partnership between the Municipality of Nicosia and the Cyprus Electricity Authority, its architectural conversion was honored with the Europa Nostra Award (1994) and remains a model for the reuse of industrial heritage and the promotion of the city’s cultural assets. Today, NiMAC stands as the oldest and largest contemporary art center on the island.
NiMAC is dedicated to:
— Providing a platform for both emerging and established contemporary artists through exhibitions, residencies, and live programming
— Reaching out to diverse audiences of all backgrounds and ages through educational programs and outreach initiatives
— Fostering creativity, promoting cross-cultural dialogue, and nurturing understanding among diverse audiences
— Connecting people across cultures and transcending borders through art
— Remaining committed to inclusion, accessibility, and the promotion of culture and the arts
