Carriers

A solo exhibition by Hannah Rowan. In Carriers, Hannah Rowan presents a new body of ceramic sculptures exploring the body as a vessel of memory, care and exchange. Moving between anatomy, armour, shell and landscape, the works draw unexpected parallels between human anatomy and the structures of the natural world. Through references to placentas, milk ducts, oyster shells, fungal networks and botanical forms, Rowan considers the body as porous and continually shaped by its relationships with other living beings and the environments it inhabits. Working with clay, a material both resilient and fragile, she invites us to encounter the body as both archive and ecosystem.
